Little Subjects

Little Subjects is something we all need to consider as photographers. As photographers we are in such a good position to show people what we see through our eyes. That is a powerful tool to have. There are times when we will all see the same subject , however not always from the same point of view.

That’s the wonder of photography, we all can see the same subject and yet we will see it from a different perspective. One perspective vs the next perspective is neither right or wrong. It all adds to the story of the subject. That’s why photography is such a joy as you can never get tired of the same subject as there will always be someone taking an angle that we haven’t thought of before, or  have used a particular lens that we had never thought of before.Little subjects will open your eyes.

Where ever we walk, there are little miracles of nature taking place all of the time. We just need to be aware of where they are. You don’t have to look far at all. They are often right next to where you are.Seriously they can be, all we need to do is to really stop and take a good look what what is around us.

Often when we are out and about we can be in such a hurry that we will literally walk past so many small acts of nature that are delicate and very inspiring. Well I find them inspiring and that is what photography does for you, it enables you to see things that you would normally miss. It enables you to capture the image and share your eyes through the camera.

There are times when we go out with no agenda at all and sometimes that’s such a good thing to do as you will becomes aware of so much around you as you are under no time constraints, no schedule , no subject and you have the freedom to simply take your time.

The next two images below are a birds feather. This we came across walking in the bush and we photographed the feather where it stood and we were able to get the real detail out of the birds feather as there were no constraints of time. That’s the key.

Miracles of nature are all around us, we just have to be open to see them. I know that this is sounding very simplistic and it is meant to be as it is not rocket science in photographing the acts of nature that are before us.

In order to photograph them we need to be aware of 5 things

  1. You need time.
  2. You need awareness.
  3. You need to know your camera well.
  4. You need to understand what your lens or lenes can do.
  5. You need the passion, have that and your photography will bloom.

The pictures in this blog were shot with Canon 6d mark 2 and 3 lenes were used. 28mm-70mm 2.8, 100mm macro 2.8, non L series and 24mm-105mm  All lenes are Canon.

The wonders and miracles of nature are all around, go forth with your camera and explore, you will not be disappointed. A good time to start is after the rain has fallen. The leaves in this blog will show the power of a little bit of water.
