AI and Photography

I think we have reached the point where it is impossible on first look to tell if an image has been assisted with AI. I think photographic competitions are getting harder to enter for people as there is no question that images are either being created by AI or heavily assisted by AI. What the answer is I really don’t know as each month it seems there are scary advancements with this technology that causes us all to question what we see.

For me, although old school, there is nothing more pleasing  and uplifting knowing that you were out in the fields, waiting through the heat, rain, dust to get the shot.

The shot wasn’t created on the laptop, in photoshop with AI. Lets face it, with Ai as it is now possible that you can create a photograph from scratch without even stepping out side.

The long hours in waiting for the shot, in waiting for the light, for waiting for that precise moment, there is nothing like that feeling of achievement that runs through your soul.

Often people will see an image and will have no idea what it took to take that shot, but you the person who took the shot, you do know what it took to achieve that photograph.

Many people don’t tell the truth when taking their images and posting them. As one of many examples that I could highlight, there was a photographer who posted an autumn scene of a well know area. Many moons ago I have shot this scene before it became popular. Out of interest I thought I’d go  and look at it. This person took the image and gave the day when the image was taken.  I went the next day and was shocked with what I saw. It look nothing like what this person posted. There was nothing remotely similar and yet, they said, this is the image that they took the day before.

Some people so over process there images that they delude themselves and convincing themselves  this is how they took the image and yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Just be aware when you are looking at other pictures, it may not be real with what you are looking at.

I’m not saying this technology is wrong and it does have a place but the place is not people using it to pass off this is what I took.

food for thought:)
