Rustic And Beauty

Card 051web

I took this shot 25 years ago. I’ve taken a lot of shots like this over the years but this image is just more than an old ruin with a rustic feel to it with the old bike.

This image represents more than just a rustic ,it portrays to me that age has its own beauty, its own grace and its own sense of worth.

Often we live in a society that seems to be dominated around the “ The beautiful” All marketing is built around “ the beautiful” to sell their products or to promote their cause.

How many shallow and empty shows are on Television at the moment that is based on “ the beautiful” in societies wrapped opinion of what is beautiful.

The older we get, the less value that some sections of society see things in people who age and but nothing could be further from the truth.

This image shows me of the untapped beauty that is before us, the wisdom that comes within it and the experience of life that you can pass onto others.

For me, I wish I knew what I do know now when I was in my 20’s .Yet we can’t expect to be able to do that when we learn about life on the road to life. There are times when we are stubborn to learn (I included myself in that in my early years) and we have to learn on the road of life by doing it our own way which in turn  will bring its own grief. Is not that how we learn?

The stone work here is still solid after 100 years, for me that signifies, being steadfast, its weathered many storms and howling winds, thunder, lightning and has stood the test of time. Our own lives endure the storms of life as most of us have experienced over time.

Very few of us are exempt from that. The door, is the door to life, to open it, is a place of refuge, shelter within and that for me is shown by our close friends. No material offer can offer us that fulfilled sense of refuge, but rather that comes from deep within, via those who are close to us.

The bike, although not mobile still has a purpose, its aging state still has an immense wonder and beauty about itself and still offers joy to those that can see it.

As we age, no matter what age we are, we still have an immense purpose in life, we all have a beauty about ourselves and that is seen by others who are observant and who understand us. Others will miss seeing it but to the observant, it is always there waiting to be discovered by others.

Have you ever had one friend who has endured the storms with you, has been steadfast in your life and sees the immense beauty that lies within you .Who has been there with you through all the rejections that you have endured over the course of your life while others have chosen to keep you at bay?

I have and to that person  and I have no words to express my deep gratitude and it is something that is born once in your lifetime I believe and has its own beauty and can’t be described.
