Fj Holden And Our Fear

FJ Holden

Over the last few months I have been working on a time lapse piece of photography on this old FJ Holden. For those who know me, they know how I love this car, I wish I had one myself. The car was made in the year I was born and having this old fella in a field is perfect for what I want. While I’m shooting this project I have a vision on how i want this to pan out and time will tell if I achieve this.

I’m preparing this piece for a conference that I’m speaking .It’s in New Zealand and it’s photographic conference. I have taken many pictures of this old car and the reason that I’m writing today is simply to say that when I go to these place places that most drive past, I’m still excited as from the day when I started shooting.I have never lost my passion.

Every time , I hop the fence I’m alive  ( actually on this day, I got zapped on the shoulder by the electric fence and boy, did I know I was alive haha) and I still get so excited, I get goose bumps, I have a freshness about me that I never forget and I’m  like a little kid inside ..I look at this car and imagine the life it had and then I look at where it is, sitting in a field, resting and living a simple life.It is the quiet observer and over time would have been witness to many things. If only it could speak , the stories that it could share would be priceless.

I think Shadow must think I’m a little insane as when he is with me, he sees this excitement in me and yes, I do talk out loud hahaha. If Shadow could write, the book that he could write about me in the field would be an interesting read and I’m sure people would think me crazy !!!

A simple life is the key to enjoying life. So often we make our lives so complicated when we don’t need to, we allow our fears to grip us  and in the end ,that fear stops us from enjoying life, stops us for being with the people we desire to be with, stops us from finding that someone special and in the end, you will go through your life, never living life to the full as you live in fear.Do you want to allow your fears to grip you forever?

The old car is sitting and observing, contented perhaps but life is no longer busy or complicated. I’m not saying that we do nothing in life, just saying don’t allow your fear to stop you from going where your inner self really wants to go and what do you do when you finally throw your fear away and what you loved deep down is no longer there and you have wasted valuable time and years??? What have you gained?

Life is precious, it’s short, embrace life, love life and allow your fears to disappear so you can be fulfilled in your life the way that you desire to be.

I still love the simply things of life, standing in this field would not be everyones cup of tea and there would be many who would be so bored and I understand that we are all very different. I’m not asking people to stand in a field but where ever you are at one with your self, don’t allow your own fears to stop you from really enjoying that place.

The old car, in the field to me is symbolic of a uncomplicated life and a fearless life.

It weathers the storms, the heat, the confusion, the anxiety, the uncertainty of life the cold and  and yet, it allows it all to be water of a ducks back as it looks on.

How do you want to spend your life?

Don’t allow the fears that you may have , control your life.

When the unexpected happens in our lives and that door of happiness closes, or what we thought was a state of well being for us, another opens but fear will often make us look too long at the closed door and the consequences of that, then we don’t see the door that is open before us where the fear is no longer, and life begins, where we can grow, blossom and live like we have never lived before. Don’t allow that door to be closed forever.:)

We live once as we know it, how do you wish to live your life, free or in bondage to fear? It’s easy to write I agree  and much harder to put into practice but when you do take that step of faith and allow fear to no longer control your life, you will start living once more:)
